The three-star recruit had also received offers from Florida State, Connecticut, Pittsburgh and Fairfield, before ultimately opting to join the Irish. He had narrowed his choices to Notre Dame and Florida State before announcing his intentions in front of his classmates at St. Andrew's High School. During the Oklahoma football weekend, Colson visited campus and hinted that an announcement could be following in the coming days. He had expressed multiple times during the recruiting process that he wanted to decide on a school before his senior year began. "The visit was great," Colson told Blue & Gold Illustrated. "I spent a lot of time with the players and coaching staff and had a feel of how it works, on what the college campus is like at Notre Dame.
