On The N Rise By Jacey Zembal C State's women's swimming team returns a solid nucleus of swimmers from a squad that finished fifth in the ACC and sent seven swimmers and two divers to the NCAA Championships last year. The Wolfpack Is Striving For Success ■PREVIEW women's swimming Senior Zina Grogg, juniors Hannah Freyman, Lauren Poli and Rachel Mumma, and sophomores Riki Bonnema and Kristin Connors all competed at the NCAA Championships for the first time. Grogg and Bonnema qualified individually in the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle, respectively. Grogg finished 41st in the prelims with a time of 53.91 seconds, and Bonnema was 49th in the prelims in the 50 freestyle (22.95). The five returning swimmers joined departing seniors Allison Hendren and Marifrances Henley on five different relays — 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle, 200 medley and 400 medley. The five relays didn't make it out of preliminaries. ranked NC State No. 16 in the country as of mid-October.
