Hinostroza's fast start is another reminder of how valuable Notre Dame's pipeline with the Chicago Mission has been in recent years. Three of the team's top five scorers (Hinostroza, sophomore Sam Herr and senior T.J. Tynan) played with the Mission for multiple years. So did DiPauli, a sophomore center who stood second on the team in the plus/ minus category. Head coach Jeff Jackson knew he wanted to keep Hinostroza and DiPauli paired together to take advantage of their pre-existing chemistry on and off the ice. "I wanted to try to keep Thomas and Vinnie together because of that history," Jackson said. "I thought all along that I'd try to play them [together]. The only question I had was who was going to play center." DiPauli moved to wing because he's got an extra year of college strength to fight battles in the corners. He played center more often that not with Hinostroza when they played together in Chicago. The slight change hasn't had any negative effects, though. The duo technically makes up two-thirds of the team's fourth offensive line, giving Notre Dame one of the deepest offensive groups in the nation. The Irish ranked seventh nationally in team offense after two weeks of play.
