from our readers receiver deep and he would probably have the easiest touchdown of the year. How'd you allow Penn State to complete two passes for 80 yards in 20 seconds at the end of regulation? Yes, the kid is a great receiver but the D-back must know that he cannot let him catch the ball, no matter what. Pass interference is only 15 yards and you live for another play. Terrible defense. And who would have thought that after six weeks, we would be leading the nation in rushing — backwards. Six to eight negative runs a game is nothing short of astounding. This team and its coaches better figure some things out and fast! Michael Peuler Pittsburgh Just for the record, Michael, Michigan has thrown the ball over the heads of opponents on a number of occasions this season. But it's fair to say that many, including those closest to the situation, share some of your frustrations. No Valley Happiness Dear The Wolverine: I'm a 20-plus-year season ticket holder alum and I just finished watching the debacle in Happy Valley. I love Brady Hoke, but he really needs to take a hard look at his offensive coordinator. Last year's loss to Ohio saw an inexplicable change from a very successful first-half offensive strategy. I watched the second half in amazement wondering why anyone would change something that worked so well in the first half. Today, we struggled the entire game trying unsuccessfully to run the ball up the middle. All the while I wondered when we would try running outside using Fitz Toussaint's strength, his speed. I guess he's of the belief he can try the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. I will support this team as I've supported many past Michigan teams, but I hope Brady is watching and evaluating with a critical mind. Rick Bantau Canton, Mich. Biggest difference from first to second half in Columbus, Rick, involved a healthy Denard Robinson. He could not grip the ball at all in the second half, and the Wolverines essentially lost their biggest offensive weapon. The Penn State game will be dissected forever, but it came down to making a play or two — offensively, defensively, special teams — that should have salted it away. Another Valley View Dear The Wolverine: Never, I mean never, have I seen a football game like the Penn State-Michigan brawl. To say the Wolverines got robbed puts it mildly. The officials surely were intimidated by the crowd waving their white hankies and screaming their heads off. Even the announcers admitted they couldn't see those pass interference calls and they were very pro-Penn State.
