4. Purdue 2012-13 Record: 25-9 overall, 10-6 Big Ten Head Coach: Sharon Versyp Top Player: Senior guard Courtney Moses Top Incoming Freshman: Guard Ashley Morrissette Summary: The Boilermakers were possibly the strongest post team in the conference last year, but lost their three best frontcourt players to graduation, and promising forward Taylor Manuel transferred out of the program. While the untested frontcourt is finding its groove, Purdue will rely on a talented duo of veteran guards in senior Courtney Moses (team-leading 13.3 points per game) and fifth-year senior KK Houser (11.3 points per game). 5. Wisconsin 2012-13 Record: 12-19 overall, 3-13 Big Ten Head Coach: Bobbie Kelsey Top Player: Junior forward Jacki Gulczynski Top Incoming Freshman: Guard Carly Truesdale Summary: The Badgers turned in a disappointing 10th-place finish last season, but they showed promise at times and return almost everything, so they should be experienced in 2013-14. Senior guard Morgan Paige led the team in scoring last year (15.9 points per game), and she can step up in big games, as evidenced by a career-high 33 points against Big Ten champion Penn State. Junior forward Jacki Gulczynski, 6-1, will be a matchup problem in the post. She averaged 13.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last year. — Andy Reid Big Ten Team On The Rise: Michigan In head coach Kim Barnes Arico's first season in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines tied a program record for wins (22) and made the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001. Michigan is replacing four of five starters and every consistent scorer from that team, but Barnes Arico is recruiting on a level never before seen at U-M, and the young Wolverines will make noise. Big Ten Team On The Decline: Ohio State After leading the Buckeyes to seven Big Ten titles and 10 NCAA Tournament berths in his first decade in Columbus, head coach Jim Foster was fired last season after Ohio State failed to make the postseason for the first time in his tenure. New head coach Kevin McGuff arrives after two seasons at Washington during which he did not finish higher than fifth in the Pac-12 standings and did not make the NCAA Tournament.
