Top Five Point Guard Seasons
Of The Last 15 Years
Michigan's point guard play has elevated in recent years — not quite "Point
Guard U." yet, but trending that way. Here are the five best seasons by Michigan
point guards since 1998:
1. Trey Burke, 2012-13: The Big Ten and National Player of the Year, Burke
averaged 19.2 points and 6.8 assists per game in leading the Wolverines to
the NCAA championship game, shooting 43.3 percent from the floor and 34.8
percent from long range. He'll best be remembered for his 30-foot triple against
Kansas in a regional semifinal that sent the game to overtime, where he helped
win it with more heroics.
2. Trey Burke, 2011-12: Burke took the starting job as a true freshman and
led Michigan to its first Big Ten title since 1986, averaging 14.8 points and 4.7
Trey Burke won National Player of the Year honors last season when he averaged 19.2
points and 6.8 assists per contest and led U-M to the NCAA championship game.
