assists per game and sharing Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors with Indiana's Cody Zeller. The standout scored in double figures in all but three regularseason games in running the show.
3. Darius Morris, 2010-11: The sophomore emerged as one of the best big
guards in the country after a pedestrian freshman season in which he largely
deferred to Manny Harris. He took the reins the following year and excelled,
leading Michigan in scoring and finishing 11th in the conference in points per
game (15.0). He also led the Big Ten and finished fifth in the country in assists
per game (6.71).
4. Daniel Horton, 2005-06: Horton averaged 17.6 points, 5.3 assists and 1.9
steals per game for a team that finished 22-11 but missed the NCAA Tournament after falling at home to Indiana in the regular-season finale. He eclipsed
30 points three times that year, including a 39-point performance in which he
made 5 of 7 triples and 13 of 20 field goals overall in a 72-64 home win.
5. Daniel Horton, 2002-03: A true freshman, Horton helped lead the Wolverines to a 10-6 Big Ten record that would likely have been enough for an NCAA
Tournament berth had Michigan not been on probation for NCAA violations.
U-M made a run to the NIT final but lost 76-64 to South Carolina despite Horton's 18 points and four assists.
