  michigan basketball • Redshirt junior forward Jon Horford grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds against UMass Lowell, topping his previous best effort of nine. Horford bumped that up in the following game, snaring 15 rebounds versus South Carolina State. • Freshman guard Derrick Walton  Jr. and freshman forwards Zak Irvin and Mark Donnal made their collegiate debuts in Michigan's season opener against UMass Lowell. Walton Jr. earned his first career start, racking up four assists, while Irvin connected on his first pair of three-pointers on his way to 10 points. • Robinson and LeVert tied career highs for steals in the opening-night victory, with three and two, respectively. Robinson also tied a career high with four assists. • Michigan's starting lineup for the opener featured Walton Jr. and LeVert at the guard spots, Nik Stauskas and Robinson at forwards, and Horford at center. • Walton Jr. achieved a career high in points (12) and field goals made (five) against South Carolina State, while Stauskas recorded career highs in points (23) and assists (five). • Michigan's 15 three-pointers in the win over South Carolina State marked a high since the Wolverines also knocked down 15 in a win over Oakland University at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Dec. 10, 2011. • The Wolverines went a season-low 4 of 9 from the free throw line in the 7770 loss at Iowa State Nov. 17. They did not attempt a free throw in the first half. Getting To Know Sophomore Guard Caris LeVert Sophomore guard Caris LeVert made a huge leap in standing during the offseason, going from a spot-duty player as a freshman to a central figure in Michigan's lineup this year. LeVert led the Wolverines in scoring his first two games this year, including a 24-point performance with six three-pointers against South Carolina State. Favorite Class at U-M: "The basketball class that we all took last year. All the freshmen were in it. We just talked about the history of basketball with our professor, and we had a little basketball tournament at the end. It was pretty cool." Best Experience At Michigan: "Apart from basketball, it would be going to the football games, and in particular the one this year against Notre Dame. All the people that left came back, the seniors, Trey [Burke] and Tim [Hardaway Jr.]. It was pretty fun, being on the field." Favorite TV Show: "This is old school, but 'Smart Guy.'"
