Best Win — 73-53 at Virginia: The Wolverines have been dominant in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. After toppling the Cavaliers this season, Michigan boasts a 5-2 record in the annual event, the best winning percentage (.714) of any Big Ten team. Just three other teams in the conference have a winning record in the Challenge: Michigan State, Wisconsin and Indiana, which are all 4-3. The young Wolverines are learning to win away from home, with a perfect 3-0 record in true road games. Without the help of junior guard Shannon Smith, who sat out with an injured back, Michigan found offense inside with junior forward Cyesha Goree (a game-high 20 points) and senior center Val Driscoll (12 points), who combined for 12 rebounds. On the flip side, Notre Dame shot 68.8 percent (22 of 32) in the first half. The Wolverines settled down and won the second half, outscoring the Irish 41-39 — not nearly enough to win, but enough to be encouraged. MVP — Junior Forward Cyesha Goree: In the last month, Goree has been a force inside. In the last eight games, Goree has posted two double-doubles, against Western Michigan (12 points and 15 rebounds) and Eastern Michigan (21 points and 11 rebounds), and has been a consistent presence in the paint, both offensively and defensively. She posted back-to-back 20-point games, leading the team in wins over Virginia (20 points) and Eastern Michigan (a career-high 21), and battled the superior length and size of Notre Dame for 15
