A Year For The RECORD BOOKS Wide Receiver Jeremy Gallon Is Named Team MVP Following An Incredible Season J BY MICHAEL SPATH eremy Gallon appeared stunned. The quiet, unassuming 5-8 wide receiver had no choice but to step to the podium for a second time on the night — the first, his senior speech, lasted less than two minutes — as he was presented a plaque, a handshake and a deafening round of applause after being named Michigan's 2013 Most Valuable Player at the annual Football Bust Dec. 11. Gallon became the seventh wide receiver in program history (though Anthony Carter won twice) to be awarded MVP honors. "It was a huge surprise to hear my name, but I'm glad I got it," Gallon said. "I already hung the award on my wall. My brother told everyone in my family, and I have been getting phone calls and texts. I took a picture of the plaque and sent it to my mom and dad." Donning the No. 21 Legends Jersey this fall in honor of Desmond Howard, Gallon set lofty goals for his senior season, but he did not expect to garner individual accolades for those achievements. "It was always a goal to be the best player I can be, but to named the best player on the team? No, I didn't envision that," he said. "Because I'm a team player, I do everything I do for my team. The awards and stats, I could care less about. "To know my team thought of me as the Most Valuable Player on the team is something special to me." Gallon did not come into the season an unknown — he was the Maize and Blue's No. 1 receiver in 2012 and was a productive third option behind Junior Hemingway and Roy Roundtree in 2011. In those sophomore and junior campaigns, he totaled 80 receptions for 1,282 yards and seven touchdowns. This fall, he matched or eclipsed those statistics, catching 80 balls for 1,284 yards and nine
