Don Lund Passes Away
on Lund might have presented
the greatest combination of athletic achievement and personable
humility ever to grace Michigan's
athletic campus, say those who
knew him well. His passing Dec.
10, at age 90, gave many followers
of the Wolverines a chance to pause

"It is hard to find anybody who
has ever met Mr. Lund that doesn't

Lund starred in three sports at U-M, earning three letters each in football, basketball and
baseball from 1942-44, and he later returned to Ann Arbor as Michigan's head baseball
coach and led the Wolverines to the national championship in 1962.
