That's when I first met Bruce Madej, then U-M's sports information director. We didn't get the job, but we learned Bruce wanted to find a company to independently publish a newspaper or magazine covering Michigan sports. Several attempts had failed at U-M, but similar publications were flourishing around the country. Bruce realized this was a vehicle for helping publicize the Wolverines and was intent on landing a publisher.
