North Carolina 11-10 with a come-from-behind win to start the month of March. They followed that with
a 10-7 loss to No. 12 Denver during a neutral site contest March 8 in Costa Mesa, Calif.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE
The 10th-ranked Irish upset lacrosse superpower Northwestern 9-8 March 5. A 12-9 win over Louisville
less than a week later pushed Notre Dame's record to 5-2 as of March 10. The two losses both came to
ACC teams, Boston College (15-10) and No. 1 North Carolina (19-9).
BASEBALL
The Irish baseball team made their ACC debut on the wrong end of a three-game sweep. They dropped
three straight to No. 6 North Carolina State March 8-9. Notre Dame stayed closed to the Wolfpack in
5-3 and 1-0 losses to start the series during a doubleheader, but was shutout again, this time 7-0, in the
finale. The team's overall record sat at 5-9 with more challenging ACC games looming in the near future.
SOFTBALL
Senior pitcher Laura Winter surpassed a school record March 9 when she picked up her 908th career
strikeout in a 12-0 win over Georgia Tech. Winter threw a three-hit shutout in the mercy-rule shortened
game. Notre Dame took two out of three games against the Yellow Jackets, which improved the team's
early-season record to 17-4 overall.
