UNDER THE DOME Tech section will be in their black and gold and looking good. In the next section is the Duke section and it's very orderly. It's going to be a little different atmosphere from the Garden." — Notre Dame basketball coach Mike Brey on the difference between Big East and ACC Tournaments "I can definitely be a leader on this team. Pretty sure you can ask a bunch of other people. I'm not a typical kicker. I'm not the wimpy kid who's going to go work out, do his own thing and play pool." — Se- nior kicker Kyle Brindza on his view of his role in the Irish locker room "He was actually up here last weekend, so he came over and we were talking. I [talked] with him a little bit, just going through kind of the same situation, encouraging him, letting him know everything is going to be fine. He's good. He's working out and doing his thing. I just can't wait to get him back." — Quarterback Everett Golson on suspended wide receiver DaVaris Daniels TWEET OF THE MONTH @KyleBrindza: "I have my goals set and locked. Won't stop and won't be stopped. Never quitting the chase! #Natty #LouGroza #RayGuy" Notre Dame senior Kyle Brindza on his three goals of winning the national championship and earning postseason honors as the top kicker and punter in the country ✦ GIMME FIVE While this year's 15-16 record marked the first time Notre Dame's men's basketball program finished below .500 during the regular season since a 14-16 ledger in 1998-99, head coach Mike Brey also achieved a positive milestone. With the 65-62 victory at home versus Georgia Tech Feb. 26, the 14th-year Fighting Irish boss became the third head coach in the program's history to reach 300 victories. "It means a lot," Brey said. "To be able to be at a place as long as I've been and have the support that I've had, coaching the kind of kids that I get here, the fan base that's been amazingly supportive, of course we've been pretty darn good, too. It means a lot." The two coaches ahead of Brey each served 20 years apiece at Notre Dame. If Brey also reached 20 years with his current average of 21.4 victories per season, Brey would have 428 wins, which would eclipse Naismith Hall of Fame inductee George Keogan and Digger Phelps, a recent addition to Notre Dame's Ring of Honor. Here is the top five in wins: Coach (Years) W L Pct. 1. Digger Phelps (1971-91) 393 197 .666 2. George Keogan (1923-43) 327 97 .771 3. Mike Brey (2000-) 300 158 .655 4. John Jordan (1951-64) 199 131 .603 5. John Dee (1964-71) 117 80 .594
