yards and 11 touchdowns. "That shows that he's going to have a big senior season, and he's only go- ing to continue getting better. He really grew up this year, and he is starting to figure out how good he can really be." Guyton helped Allen repeat as the Class 5A Division I football state champions. Fleener knew that his star receiver was going to enjoy himself during his trip to South Bend. He told Guyton that Notre Dame is a special place and to soak everything in on his visit. "He and his family visited Notre Dame during spring break, and the visit was great for everyone," Fleener said. "I asked him not to commit on his visit and to come home and think about things for a few days. I told him that he's going to want to pull the trig- ger, but it's better if he comes home and talks to his parents and family first and then if he still wants to be at Notre Dame, then he'll know that it's real. "He called me [March 30] and told me he was ready to commit to Notre Dame. He was really confident, ex- cited and ready. I couldn't be happier for him. "He's been to about eight or nine other places, but he's never talked about a school like he talks about Notre Dame. It's clear that he found the place that he wants to be at, and I don't see him looking anywhere else." During his next few trips to South Bend, Guyton plans on doing some re- cruiting of his own. At this time, there is only one guy that he is certain he will target. "Ryan Newsome," Guyton said of the Aledo, Texas, four-star wide re- ceiver. "I'm going to talk to him and try and get him to visit with me." ✦ FILM ANALYSIS Strengths Jalen Guyton possesses above average speed … Does well with getting in and out of his breaks … Very effective in the slot … A smooth, fluid player … Speed and stride allow for great sepa- ration from defenders … Explosive first step off the snap … Many similarities to former Notre Dame receiver TJ Jones and current pass catcher Will Fuller in his game. Areas For Improvement Likely closer to 5-11 than 6-1 … Route running will need to be polished … Needs to work on timing when attacking the ball in the air … Typi- cally faster than his opponent, but will need to add versatility to his game at the next level … Doesn't have to go over the middle often, but will in college. — Tom Loy MOVING?
