COMMITMENT PROFILE On Aug. 26, 2012, one of Ohio's premier programs, Trotwood-Mad- ison — with senior Michigan line- backer commit Mike McCray and cornerback Reon Dawson, who would eventually join McCray in the Wolverines' 2013 class — took on Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School on national television as part of ESPN's Kickoff Classic. The game did not start as planned for the Rams, who were already an underdog against a team that boasted two four-stars, five three-stars, and six two-stars — in its senior class alone. Trotwood lost its starting quar- terback early in the game (and would lose McCray for stretches when he battled flu-like symptoms), and had to insert a freshman in his first game of high school action. Messiah DeWeaver would not have a banner day against the Suns, but would improve rapidly from there. He led Trotwood to the state title game that season, though the squad lost to Toledo Catholic Central 16-12. By the summer immediately prior to his junior year, a strong camp perfor- mance at Michigan would see him earn an offer from Brady Hoke — and pledge to join his former team- mates in Ann Arbor. "He's a very determined man in terms of the things he wants to ac- complish on the football field and in school," Trotwood-Madison coach Jeff Graham said. "He wants to be the top quarterback in the state and the country, and he wants to show U-M Pledge Is A Dream Come True For Messiah DeWeaver DeWeaver has completed 196 of 355 passes (55.2 percent) for 3,096 yards with 34 touch- downs and 13 interceptions halfway through his prep career.
