individuals who exemplify the highest qualities of leadership, cooperative spirit and unselfish service in the interest of UVa athletics. The litany of service and community awards allowed Harris to accomplish one of his other key objectives when deciding to travel 2,722 miles to Charlottesville to attend college. "Getting my degree, trying to be involved in the community and of course academics was really important to me," Harris said. "I think I did a good job of getting the full college experience, not just playing basketball but being fully involved in the university community." In June, Harris' attitude and persistence paid off when his lifelong dream of reaching the NBA was realized — the Cleveland Cavaliers selected him in the second round with the 33rd overall pick of the NBA Draft. "My goal was to get to the NBA, it's been my goal since I was a young kid," Harris explained. "I always believed in myself deep down and never really lost sight of the thought that the more we achieved as a team, the greater chance I would have personally. "Draft day itself is a pretty special day," Harris added. "It's a very long day because you're sitting just waiting, but it's cool because you get to experi- ence it with your family and friends and sharing the moment with everyone." Harris recently received one other interesting piece of news when the Cavaliers signed star LeB- ron James to return to Cleveland. "It's exciting to get drafted by an organization that's going to have success and is doing things the right way, and then they bring in the best player in the world to be your teammate; that kind of changes everything," Harris said. "That day was almost as exciting as the day I got drafted. For my first year to play with a guy like LeBron and have an opportu- nity like that is pretty special." ◆ BEST OF THE REST Alex Domijan, tennis — The Wesley Chapel, Fla., native capped his stellar career by posting a 26‑3 singles record and a final national ranking of No. 9, earning ACC Player of the Year accolades and becoming the first four‑time All‑ American in program history.
