commenting" on the officiating, before adding Otis was adamant he did not hit Notre Dame junior long snapper Scott Daly too early. "[Daly's] head was up, and Otis knows he hit the center," Fedora said. "That was part of his job there. He said, 'I know his head was up. I know I didn't hit him too early,' but it didn't get called that way." Notre Dame never relinquished the lead it took, only allowing the Tar Heels back into the end zone with less than a minute left and with a two-touchdown lead. An interception from sophomore cornerback Cole Luke — his third in two games — snuffed out the last valid North Carolina threat, paving the way for Folston's final score of the night and Notre Dame's last positive yards of the game. The Irish ended with 519 total yards, while the defense gave up 510. Notre Dame heads south to face de- fending national champion Florida State on Oct. 18. College GameDay, ES- PN's weekly Saturday morning show previewing the day's matchups, will air from Tallahassee, Fla. ✦ Sophomore running back Tarean Folston rushed 18 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns, and had five receptions for 71 yards and a score, to pace Notre Dame's offensive attack.
