NOVEMBER 2014 ■ 129 ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING from Duke, Illinois, Iowa, NC State and Virginia from the power conferences. Mid- majors such as Georgia Southern, Florida Atlantic, Florida International and South Alabama have also tendered. Hallback, who has been hampered by a knee injury during his senior season, has stated that he would take official visits to Duke, Iowa, Illinois and NCSU. He had previously listed Duke and Iowa as his two favorites. Offensive Tackle NC State has been recruiting three-star prospect Emanuel McGirt of Durham (N.C.) Hillside High longer than anyone. The Pack was the first to offer the 6-5, 280-pounder and has been a mainstay in his recruitment, even when he was briefly committed to UNC over the summer. Since backing out on his Chapel Hill pledge in August, McGirt has listed co- leaders of NC State and Georgia. He of- ficially visited Georgia Aug. 31 for its sea- son-opening win over Clemson. McGirt, though, made an unofficial visit to Penn State Oct. 25 for their double-overtime loss to Ohio State, and scheduled an official visit to Virginia Tech for Nov. 1. He also plans to officially visit NC State, Penn State and LSU before making a final decision. The Pack's recent pickup of four- star defensive lineman Darian Roseboro from Lincolnton (N.C.) High is helping its chances. "I like it a lot at NC State, too," McGirt said. "They're right down the street. It's always good to go there. Darian Roseboro is my boy." Rivals.com lists McGirt as the No. 20 player in the state's 2015 class and the No. 54 senior offensive tackle nationally. He has been selected to the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Game. NC State, though, is not putting all of its eggs in the McGirt basket. They offered three-star prospect Jack Shutack from La Grange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy dur- ing the spring and twice hosted Shutack for unofficial visits, most recently in July. The 6-5, 285-pounder has also been of- fered by Iowa State, Minnesota, Rutgers and Western Michigan. He has addition- ally been picking up interest from Michi- gan State and Missouri after camping at both schools over the summer. Shutack had previously stated that he would not narrow down his choices until after his senior season. A potential wild card option at offensive tackle is Aaron Wiltz, a 6-5, 275-pounder from Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic. Wiltz made a verbal commitment to Central Florida in September and had previously picked up offers from Cincinnati, Houston, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama and Southern Miss, among others. Wolfpack offensive line coach Mike Uremovich made an evaluation visit to Baton Rouge during State's bye week in October, and the Pack could be interested in recruiting Wiltz. Defensive Tackle The biggest name on the defensive tackle board is probably Tim Settle from Stone- wall Jackson High School in Manassas, Va. Settle is rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 160 overall player in the 2015 class and No. 12 defensive tackle nationally. However, the Pack is likely a long shot here. Settle has officially visited Oklahoma State and Penn State this month already, and had lined up a trip to West Virginia The Wolfpack is in the running for three-star offensive tackle Emanuel McGirt from Durham. The 6-5, 280-pounder is rated as the No. 54 offensive tackle in the country by Rivals.com. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
