60 ■ THE WOLFPACKER WOLFPACK BASKETBALL PREVIEW ■ Anthony "Cat" Barber 12 • G So. • Hampton, Va. • 6-2 • 180 Analysis: After splitting time last year with Tyler Lewis, who transferred to Butler in the offseason, Barber is expected to be the primary point guard this season. He showed that his quickness can make him effective in transition and penetrating, and he also is a pesky defender. With a better understanding of how to run an offense and a more confident jumper, Barber should take a step forward in 2014-15. Career Highlights: Started 18 games as a freshman and was third on the team in scoring at 8.5 points per game … Had a career-high 22 points against North Carolina Central in his first career start … Had a personal- best eight assists versus East Carolina … Led the Pack in assists (14) and steals (four) in three ACC Tournament games, and scored 12 points against Duke in the semifinals … Regarded by Rivals.com as the No. 5 point guard and No. 27 overall player in the 2013 class … Selected to play in the McDonald's All-American Game, where he had 11 points and four assists in 18 minutes … Became the 17th Wolfpack recruit to play in the prestigious all-star game … Averaged 20.2 points per game as a senior and broke former Wake Forest guard Tony Rutland's career scoring record for the Peninsula District with 2,097 career points … Became the first basketball player in the region to reach 2,000 career points … Averaged 21.3 points per contest as a junior … Participated in the 2012 Nike Global Challenge, averaging 11.8 points per game for the bronze medal-winning team … Played AAU ball for Boo Williams.
