UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Patrick Wall — Soccer The fifth-year senior goaltender was selected as a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Wall's notable achievements in the community, classroom and competition — as well as his overall character — earned him the chance for fans to choose him as the award's winner. An aerospace engineering graduate, Wall has been the lone player to appear in goal for the Irish in the last two seasons, in- cluding last year's title run. Named to the 2013 All-ACC Academic Team, Wall has also played a pivotal role in the team's continued involvement in Grassroot Soccer, an international non-govern- mental organization that uses soccer to benefit African countries. Lauren Bohaboy — Soccer The senior forward was named the Co-ACC Women's Soccer Player of the Week Oct. 27, sharing the honor with Florida State senior midfielder Dagny Brrynjarsdottir. Bohaboy knocked in two game-winning goals during Notre Dame's final homestand, including the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over No. 20 Clemson Oct. 23. Following that drama, she netted the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Louisville on Senior Day Oct. 26. Bohaboy leads the Irish with seven goals on only 19 shots on goal, also scoring the game-winner Oct. 9 versus Pittsburgh. Eddy Covalschi and Josh Hagar — Tennis The sophomore duo won the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championship Oct. 20, upsetting the top-seeded No. 16 duo, Ohio State's junior Ralf Steinbach and fifth-year senior Kevin Metka, 7-6, 4-6, 12-10. The title is the first for a Notre Dame doubles team since 2006. To reach the title match, the sophomores had to top Irish team- mates, second-seeded junior Alex Lawson and senior Billy Pecor. The awkward but respect-filled match ended 4-6, 7-5, 10-6. That initial set between Irish duos was the first set Covalschi and Hagar lost in the five-round tournament. TOP OF THE CLASS
