Getting To Know … SOPHOMORE WIDE RECEIVER WILL FULLER ✦ GIMME FIVE Lost in the excitement, drama and controversy during Notre Dame's 31-27 defeat at No. 2 Flor- ida State Oct. 18 was senior kicker Kyle Brindza "officially" became the school's all-time leader in field goals converted. Brindza made both of his attempts, from 34 and 46 yards. The former gave him the record 52 in his career, and the latter provided Notre Dame a 27-24 lead in the fourth quarter. It also marked the 22nd time in 24 tries that Brindza, who has always been at his best in the clutch, made a field goal in either the fourth quarter or in overtime. However, a pet peeve at Blue & Gold Illus- trated includes Notre Dame (and other schools) not including bowl stats until the last decade. Thus, John Carney's two field goals in as many attempts in an Irish 27-20 Hawaii Bowl loss in 1984 are excluded. That would have kept him tied with Brindza. Here are the top five Notre Dame kickers in field goals made — with bowl games included — entering the Navy game Nov. 1. Player (Years) No.-Att. (Pct.) 1. Kyle Brindza (2011-14) 53-71 (.747) 2.
