sise caught a 78-yard touchdown pass from Golson on the game's second play. It was the quickest Irish score since 2011 at Purdue, when wide receiver Mi- chael Floyd snared a 35-yard pass from Tommy Rees at the 14:36 mark of the first quarter. 18 Tackles recorded by three Irish true fresh- men defenders versus Navy, 14 of them solo. Linebacker GREER MARTINI led the Irish with nine overall, including six solo, while safety Drue Tranquill's five stops were all solo. Linebacker Nyles Morgan replaced an injured Joe Schmidt in the sec- ond half, and three of his four tackles were solo. Martini and Tranquill made their first career starts. 48.2 Scoring average for Notre Dame in its last four meetings against Navy. It has won by scores of 56-14 (2011), 50-10 (2012), 38-34 (2013) and 49-39. 73 Points scored by Navy the past two seasons against Notre Dame in the 38-34 and 49-39 defeats. Those are the most points scored by any team against the Irish in back-to-back years with no victory to show for it. 113 Points surrendered by Notre Dame in its last three games: a 50-43 win versus North Carolina, a 31-27 loss at Florida State and the 49-39 victory against Navy. That is the most points yielded by the Irish over a three-game stretch since the 125 in 2007 with a 38-0 loss to USC, a 46-44 triple-overtime setback to Navy and a 41-24 defeat to Air Force for a 125-point total. In regulation time, it is the most since the 120 in the final three games of 2004: 41-38 and 41-10 losses to Pitt and USC, respectively, and a 38-21 defeat to Oregon State in the bowl. 149 Rushing yards on 20 carries by sopho- more running back Tarean Folston, a career high. Combined with Folston's 120-yard ef- fort Oct. 18 at Florida State, it is the first time an Irish player ran for at least 100 yards in consecutive games since Cierre Wood in losses to South Florida (104) and Michigan (134) to open the 2011 season. Folston's two-game total of 269 rushing yards are also the most at Notre Dame in back-to-back games since Darius Walker had 315 versus Air Force (153) and Army (162) in 2006. Freshman linebacker Greer Martini made his first career start and led the Irish with nine tackles (six solo). PHOTO BY BILL PANZICA
