UNDER THE DOME 90 Years Ago: Nov. 15, 1924 In their final home game at Notre Dame's Cartier Field, the famed all-senior Four Horsemen and Seven Mules defeat their nemesis, Nebraska, 34-6. The Cornhuskers, who had handed Notre Dame its lone loss in 1922 (14-6) and 1923 (14-7), hold a 6-0 lead after the first quarter before quarterback Harry Stuhldreher scores from a yard out, left halfback Don Miller tallies from 10 and 18 yards out, right halfback Jim Crowley races 75 yards for a touchdown on a pass from fullback Elmer Layden, and Layden concludes the scoring with a three- yard run. It is the lone game in which each Horseman scores a touchdown in the same contest. 50 Years Ago: Nov. 14, 1964 A Notre Dame school-record eight consecutive losses to the Michigan State Spartans from 1955-63 finally ends when the No. 1-ranked Fighting Irish, under first-year head coach Ara Parseghian, post a 34-7 rout at home. Parseghian also snaps his personal 0-5 record against MSU and head coach Duffy Daugherty from 1959-63 while coaching at Northwestern. Sophomore halfback Nick Eddy scores on the second play from scrimmage with a 61-yard romp, and tallies another touchdown to build a 20-0 halftime cushion. Senior quarterback John Huarte adds a 13-yard TD pass to fullback Joe Farrell, and scores one of his own with a 21-yard scoring run. Notre Dame finishes with 428 yards total offense — 214 rushing and 214 passing. Anniversaries In Notre Dame Athletics History: Nov. 11-17
