UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Emma Gaboury — Swimming & Diving The junior diver earned ACC Female Diver of the Week honors after winning the three-meter dive and taking sec- ond in the one-meter dive during Notre Dame's dual-meet with Illinois Nov. 14. Gaboury tallied a career-high score of 300.07 in the three-meter competition, relying on a recently bettered forward dive featuring three and a half somersaults, as well as a reverse dive based around two and a half somersaults. Francesca Russo — Fencing The freshman sabreist enjoyed great success in her Irish debut, finishing 13-1 at the Buckeye Elite Cup Nov. 16. Russo helped the Notre Dame women to a 5-0 record on the day, topping Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Penn Sate, Princeton and Ohio State. She also scored the final five touches of Notre Dame's 60-45 exhibition win over Northwestern two days earlier and earned ACC Fencer of the Week honors. Molly Seidel — Cross Country The junior led Notre Dame to a sixth-place finish in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Nov. 14, with a sixth-place finish of her own. She covered the six-kilometer course in 19:59, a personal record by 12 seconds. Seidel is originally from a town about an hour's drive from Madison, Wis., where the race was held, and her performance sparked the Irish to a berth in the NCAA Championships. Kaleigh Olmsted — Soccer The sophomore forward notched the only goal in fourth- seeded Notre Dame's 1-0 victory over Valparaiso in its NCAA Tournament opener Nov. 14. The Irish managed 24 shots, including one from Olmsted, before she broke through in the 90th minute for the latest NCAA Tournament game-winner in program history. Olmsted also has an assist in the 3-1 loss to Florida State Nov. 7 in the ACC Tournament. TOP OF THE CLASS
