ND SPORTS man forward Kathryn Westbeld posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists, a steal and a block. The third fresh- man, energetic guard Mychal Johnson, scored nine points and handed out a team-high seven assists with no turn- overs and recorded four steals. During the 6-0 start that was high- lighted with an 81-73 victory at Michi- gan State (ranked No. 16 in the Nov. 24 Associated Press poll), the All- American Loyd and potential National Freshman of the Year Turner became established as the outside-inside tan- dem to stretch defenses. Loyd averaged 19.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while Turner was pouring in 16.7 points and pulling down 6.7 rebounds per contest. That was in just over one half's worth of work because sophomore point guard Lindsay Allen's 22.7 minutes per game paced the team. Ten different Irish players averaged a minimum of 13 minutes. What McGraw is seeking is a con- sistent third scorer, which she had last year with Loyd (18.6 points per game) and the graduated Kayla McBride (17.6) and center Natalie Achonwa (14.9). On any given night it could be Re- imer (9.3 points and a team-best 6.8 re- bounds per game), Mabrey (8.0 points per game), Allen (8.0 points per game) or Westbeld (7.8 points per game), but the Irish head coach would prefer a constant third threat to emerge. ✦ 1-800-421-7751 • www.BlueGoldOnline.com 2015 NOTRE DAME CAlENDARs Action Calendar Item #6450 $15.99 + S&H Vintage Wall Calendar Item #6451 $21.95 + S&H Vintage Desktop Calendar Item #6452 $12.95 + S&H All Calendars In stock Now!
