The NBA MITCH MCGARY STILL WAITING FOR HIS OPPORTUNITY FOLLOWING INJURY The Oklahoma City Thunder re- called forward Mitch McGary, the team's first-round pick, from the Okla- homa City Blue of the NBA Develop- ment League Dec. 4, but sent him back Dec. 10 before he had a chance to play in an NBA game. McGary missed the first several weeks of the season with a foot injury, but is coming around. During his most recent assignment with the Blue, he ap- peared in two games (two starts) and averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 1.0 block in 26.5 minutes. Overall, the rookie forward has ap- peared in four games (four starts) with the Blue this season, averaging 16.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 23.8 minutes per game. In Sacramento, guard Nik Staus- kas, the Kings' first-round pick (No. 8 overall), had a career night in leading his team to a 101-92 win over former Michigan teammate and guard Trey Burke and the Utah Jazz Dec. 8. Stauskas put Sacramento in control for good, CBS Sacramento reported, when he converted a twisting layup while getting fouled and completed a three-point play to make it 89-79 with 3:22 remaining.
