  MICHIGAN BASKETBALL BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK • Michigan's 71-62 win over Detroit on Nov. 20 marked its 14th straight against the Titans. The Wolverines are 26-4 in the all-time series between the schools. • The Wolverines' 70-63 win over Oregon made it 4-0 in the all-time series against the Ducks, and put U-M into the championship game of the 2014 Progressive Leg- ends Classic. The game was played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Freshman forward Ricky Doyle scored a career-high 10 points in the win over Oregon. Junior guard Caris LeVert set a career best by sinking 11 of 13 free throws. • Villanova's 60-55 win in the championship game of the Legends Classic moved the Wildcats ahead, 2-1, in the all-time series between the programs. The two teams hadn't faced off since Villanova won, 59-55, in the 1985 NCAA Tournament and went on to become national champions. • Michigan's 91-62 rout of Nicholls State at Crisler Center on Nov. 29 represented the first-ever meeting between the programs. The Wolverines secured a season- high 13 offensive rebounds during the runaway win. Doyle recorded a career-high 15 points and six rebounds and freshman forward Kameron Chatman a career-best 11 points and eight rebounds. Junior guard Spike Albrecht made the second start of his career, notching 10 points. Freshman forward Aubrey Dawkins managed career highs with five points and four rebounds. • Michigan's 68-65 victory over Syracuse in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge pulled the Wolverines within one of the Orange in the all-time series, Syracuse leading 8-7. The Wolverines moved to 6-8 in Challenge performances. • Prior to surrendering 68 points to Michigan, Syracuse had given up an average of 51.7 points per game to opponents. U-M forced a season-high 19 turnovers by the Orange, while committing only seven turnovers. U-M also posted a season-best 17 offensive rebounds. • Albrecht dished out a career-best nine assists and scored a season-high 11 points in the game. Doyle tied a career high with six rebounds, while Chatman's nine rebounds established a career best for him. • The Wolverines' stunner of a loss to NJIT, 72-70, represented the first-ever game between the programs. Michigan surrendered opponent season highs in field goal shooting (58.7 percent) and three-point shooting (64.7 percent). LeVert scored a career-high 32 points, including 25 in the second half. He also tied a career best with four steals. • LeVert has landed on the 50-name watch list for the 2015 Naismith Award, given to the best player in college basketball. He's one of seven Big Ten performers mak- ing the list. The others are Wisconsin's Sam Dekker and Frank Kaminsky, Michigan State's Branden Dawson, Indiana's Yogi Ferrell, Nebraska's Terran Petteway and Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell.
