[Okafor] that we forgot about other guys. [Justise] Winslow got it going early. Tyus Jones hit some really good shots and Quinn Cook hit some big shots at the end." Virginia, though, bounced back strong. Behind another good performance from An- derson, UVa beat North Carolina 75-64 in Chapel Hill. "I think we got back to the mentality that we needed to," Bennett said. "Our way is a blue- collar way, it's a fighting way and our guys I think responded well and really rallied … "When people are patting you on the back and telling you how good you are, that's fools gold. You can't be like that. I think our guys understand that." The win marked the highest-ranked opponent Virginia had beaten on the road since defeating Maryland in 2003. "We knew we just had to keep our foot on their neck," said Perrantes, who posted 15 points and six assists. "I feel like we did that toward the end. It was kind of nerve-racking just because what had happened last game, but we stuck it out and learned from it." Unfortunately for Virginia, a major turning point in the season occurred in its next game against Louisville when Anderson went down with a broken finger on his shooting hand. While the Cavaliers managed to beat the ninth-ranked Cardinals and then reel off seven more wins, they were never the same offensively. Virginia lost its regular-season finale at Lou- isville at the buzzer March 7. Still, UVa was the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament. The feeling was that if the Cavs could at least make it to the final, they would have a strong shot at securing one of the coveted No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. With Anderson making his return in a quarterfinal win over Florida State, hopes were high. However, Virginia — despite an amazing of- fensive performance from Brogdon — was upset by UNC in the semifinals. On Selection Sunday, UVa was tabbed as a No. 2 seed in the Big Dance. That meant a tougher draw, which started with a game against Belmont. Anderson had his best performance since return- ing to the lineup, with Virginia pulling away late against the Bruins. But up next was a Michigan State squad that had beaten Virginia in last season's Sweet 16 at Second-year point guard London Perrantes paced the Cavaliers and ranked among the top five in the ACC in assists (4.6 per game) and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.0).
