ND SPORTS Notre Dame had won 10 of its last 12 contests as of April 20, positioning it well for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. FENCING The Irish women finished third at the NCAA Championships that concluded March 22, behind only Columbia and Penn State, respectively. Junior Lee Kiefer won her third individual NCAA title, defeat- ing St. John's Marta Hausman 15-7 in the semifinals and Columbia's Margaret Lu 15-13 in the final. Freshman Francesca Russo won her first national title, defeating the defending national champion Adrienne Jarocki (Harvard) 15-12 in the semifinals, and Karen Chang (Penn State) 15-5 in the final. MEN'S GOLF Notre Dame finished 11th against a difficult field at the Mason Rudolph Championship April 3-5. Sopho- more Matthew Rushton was Notre Dame's top performer at the event, sharing 27th place with rounds of 69, 76 and 77 for a final score of 9-over-par 222. The Irish are set to compete in the ACC Championships April 24-26 at New London, N.C. WOMEN'S GOLF Facing a conference championship field with six teams in the top 35 nationally, the No. 32 Irish placed sixth at the ACC Championships April 17-18 in Greensboro, N.C., with a team score of 876. Junior Talia Campbell was the Irish's top finisher, tying for 11th place with a one-under-par 215 (71-72-72). If selected to the NCAA Championships field, Notre Dame will compete in the NCAA Regional May 5-7 in Notre Dame, Ind. WOMEN'S LACROSSE (9‑7, 3‑4 ACC) No. 10 Notre Dame had won six of its last nine contests as of April 20, including a 13-5 win over No. 15 Ohio State March 21, a 14-4 steam roll over No. 4 Virginia April 4 and a 12-11 overtime victory against No. 7 Syracuse April 7. The three losses came by only four goals combined, with the Irish falling 9-8 to No. 3 North Carolina March 29, 10-9 to No. 7 Northwestern April 16, and 10-8 at No. 14 Louisville April 19. The Irish were the No. 5 seed in the ACC Tournament and were slated to take on No. 4 seed Virginia April 23 in Charlottesville, Va. ROWING The No. 16 Irish competed in the Lake Natoma Invitational April 11-12, winning Group "B" after a vic- tory tie and a pair of runner-up results. The squad earned 37 points over two days to earn first over San Diego and Gonzaga, who tied for second with 35 points. Notre Dame will take part in the ACC Championships May 15-16 in Clemson, S.C. SWIMMING Emma Reaney — the most decorated swimmer in school history — ended her Irish career with a fourth- place finish (2:07.10) in the 200 breaststroke at the NCAA Championships, earning All-America honors in
