FOOTBALL RECRUITING BY ANDREW IVINS T he story hasn't changed much, and it's not expected to anytime soon. With the 2016 National Signing Day (Feb. 3) just over nine months away, Notre Dame has three crucial positions of need in the class of 2016: offensive tackle, defensive end and safety. Notre Dame will not only lose a number of players at those aforemen- tioned positions at the conclusion of the 2015 season, but those areas also have not been filled well with volume in recent cycles. That means the suc- cess of the recruiting class will in large part be judged by the quality of talent signed to fill those holes. While the Irish have already begun to address some of their needs with early commitments from Cincinnati Elder four-star offensive tackle Tommy Zeroing In On Needs For The 2016 Class Hartland (Wis.) Arrowhead's Ben Bredeson, the nation's No. 3 offensive tackle and No. 41 overall prospect according to Rivals.com, has the Irish in his top four along with Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan.
