ll it took was one 50-yard touch-
down scamper on a jet sweep rush
by C.J. Prosise in the Music City
Bowl win over LSU to get Notre Dame
thinking that maybe it had more than
just a receiver in him.
On the game-tying touchdown
against the Tigers, Prosise was handed
the ball, turned the corner, made one
move to slip past an LSU defender
and scampered 50 yards past an SEC
defense.
In an effort to provide some depth
at running back with only two play-
ers — juniors Tarean Folston and Greg
Bryant — on scholarship before two
freshmen arrive in June, Notre Dame
experimented with Prosise in the back-
field this spring with fantastic results.
No player earned praise from head
coach Brian Kelly quite like Prosise
did in March and April.
"He's really rounding into a guy
that you're going to fear," Kelly said
after the Blue-Gold Game. "When you
turn on the film, you're going to look
at him and go, 'He scares me.'"
Prosise said one of his first actions
after learning that Notre Dame's all-
time leading rusher Autry Denson
was returning to coach the running
backs was to fire up some old clips
