makes it so much easier for us moving forward and you can do it with depth." Notre Dame senior running back/slot receiver C.J. Prosise … On his transition to running back: "I made some big plays last year down the field and in open space, so when I was asked to play running back I knew that I could make some plays there, too. "I'm feeling really good about where I have been this spring, and I definitely think in these next few weeks that I am going to keep getting better and better and continue that leading into the fall." Notre Dame junior running back Tarean Folston … On the running game: "We ran the ball pretty well today and it was evenly distributed. … It'll be up to Coach Kelly if running the ball is an emphasis going forward." Notre Dame junior wide receiver Will Fuller … On the receivers and the offense: "We just need to be more consistent in catch- ing everything, running our routes the way we're coached to run them. … We're really deep at receiver, and the young guys are playing really well. "We're going to be a very explosive offense that can score on anyone in the country." On being the No. 1 option at wide receiver: "I don't think we need a No. 1 receiver on offense, but who wouldn't want to be the No. 1 guy? Receivers catch passes, and I tell people you need to be greedy. You have to want it the most." Notre Dame junior linebacker Jaylon Smith … On the growth of the defense: "This was my first time being able to prepare in offseason with the same defense that we ran in the previous year. It is just confidence and just everyone really counting on each other." On his vision for the defense: "Coach says it all the time — we need physical players here. We kind of have a bad reputation of being soft and smart guys at Notre Dame. Along with that, we have to have that mental and physical mental- ity. "We have the capacity, but it is just about turning that switch. It is something that we are emphasizing, and as a leader I am on them every day." Notre Dame junior free safety Max Redfield … On what helped the defense this spring: "The biggest factor was having more comfort in the system. It was our first time ever learning that NFL-like scheme. "After that year, we definitely feel more comfortable in it, and our communica- tion is a lot more apparent, and a lot more eminent."
