had averaged 203.1 yards per game the
year prior en route to the 2013 national
title.
"We knew after that [LSU] game
that's what we want to be," Stanley
said. "… We had to keep it up. We
couldn't just be a fluke. We were the
heart and soul of the team that game.
We just need to be more consistent and
we showed that through the spring."
When Notre Dame returns to full
practice come August, the identity
forged last December, this winter,
spring and offseason training activities
(OTAs) needs to resonate.
"We want to have an identity when
we come into camp," Kelly said. "We've
got to play Texas, Virginia and Geor-
gia Tech right out of the gate. … We
can't wait four or five weeks to find out,
'Oh, well, we're a running team, we're
a passing team, we're this, we're that.'
"We want to use those OTAs to re-
ally start to establish our DNA and our
identity as to who we are."
For the last five months it has by lay-
ing it on the line more than usual. ✦
