COMMITMENT PROFILE a quarterback, but Jim Harbaugh is Michigan's coach and he's going to do all the things a Jim Harbaugh would like. He's fearless. You see that in games, not 7-on-7." Viramontes is expected to try his hand at quarterback first, but could project to a number of positions down the road. Running back, full- back, tight end, wide receiver, safety and linebacker are all realistic pos- sibilities given his frame and the smoothness with which he moves. "I think a lot of people that didn't want him at quarterback were re- ally only looking at him to play line- backer," Gorney said. "I don't think he could really be a safety, but he could be an outside linebacker, defi- nitely. He has the skills of a fullback/ H-back catching passes out of the backfield. "He wants to play quarterback, but he's open to playing other positions. He's not going to sulk or cry. He just wants to dominate his new position." Thus far in his Michigan tenure, Harbaugh has stocked the stable with quarterbacks. He inherited three scholarship players, picked up a second 2015 commitment at the position, added two transfers this summer, and now has a pair locked in with the 2016 class. There's only one ball to go around, and the depth chart will work itself out to one win- ner of the position. That may mean some transfers out of the program, but in Viramontes' case, the contin- gency plan still involves wearing a winged helmet until the end. — Tim Sullivan
