M ichigan junior tight end Jake Butt has battled some serious inju- ries in his career, but now he's feeling as good as he has since he's been in Ann Arbor. Butt, U-M's top returning receiver with 41 career receptions for 446 yards and four touchdowns, has been named to the 2015 John Mackey Award preseason watch list and is ready to meet the hype. Butt appeared in 10 games and made five starts last year, catching 21 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns. He's up to 252 pounds and recovered from another meniscus surgery in Feb- ruary — an injury he played through during the season — to take part in most spring ball activities. Following his freshman year in 2013, Butt was named to the ESPN.com All- Big Ten Freshman Team after appear- ing in all 13 games with eight starts. He recorded 20 receptions for 235 yards and two touchdowns on the season. He experienced a breakout day against Ohio State, notching career highs in receptions (five) and receiving yards (85), while posting a 37-yard career long reception and adding one touch- down catch.
