COMMITMENT PROFILE FILM EVALUATION Strengths: Johnson is at his best when he can pin his ears back and tear after the quarterback from the end of the line of scrimmage. That helped him notch an unbelievable 60 tackles for loss as a junior, including 10 sacks. He is able to go around offensive linemen in various ways. He is also athletic enough to drop into coverage, something that he may not have to do much of at the high school level but will serve him well in college. Areas of Improvement: When an offensive lineman gets his hands on Johnson, it's unlikely that he'll be winning the rep. Thanks to his smaller size, he doesn't have the functional strength to beat blocks. He needs to get in the weight room. Johnson also can improve his technique — particularly work with his hands — to become a more complete lineman. That will give him the ability to win downs using something other than pure speed. Michigan Player Comparison: Tim Jamison (2004-07) was a slightly under- sized high school defensive end with plenty of physical potential. While he never lived up to the significant hype, he had a similar set of skills to Johnson, who can outperform him in the long run with good coaching. — Analysis from TheWolverine.com
