games and played in 26 defensively, totaling 58 tackles, three sacks and four tackles for loss. He was All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2012. 6. CB Jourdan Lewis, Michigan: A junior, Lewis was a four-star recruit in the 2013 class. He appeared in eight games during his rookie season and was a seven-game starter among 12 defensive appearances in 2014. This fall, he is looking to build off a cam- paign in which he recorded 39 tackles, six pass breakups, two interceptions and 1.5 tackles for loss. 7. S DeJuan Rogers, Toledo: Though only a two-star in the 2013 class, Rog- ers impacted quickly, starting two games and recording 23 tackles and a pick in 12 total contests his fresh- man year. In 2014, he started nine of 13 games at safety, tallying 67 stops, 3.5 for loss and two pass breakups. 8. CB Dior Mathis, Oregon: Like Barksdale, Mathis surprised when he left the state for Oregon as a four-star recruit in the 2010 class. He never truly found his niche, but was a reserve de- fensive back, appearing in 43 career contests. He finished with 55 tackles, 12 pass breakups and three intercep- tions. 9. CB/WR Kishon Wilcher, To - ledo: The son of Cass Tech patriarch, Thomas, Wilcher played in 26 games defensively, recording 33 tackles his first three seasons before moving to wide receiver for 2014. In 13 games last year, he had 19 receptions for 275 yards and two scores. He also averaged 22.0 yards on 29 kickoff returns. 10. WR Cortez Smith, Indiana: A three-star recruit in the 2008 class, Smith ran afoul of the law at Indiana, ended up at Kilgore College and eventually at Purdue. In two seasons with the Boilermakers from 2009-10, Smith caught 50 balls for 611 yards and scored six touchdowns. — Michael Spath After redshirting in 2009, safety Thomas Gordon played in 47 games and started 38 times for the Wolverines over the next four years.
