LOOK MA, ONE HAND
Fourth-year wide receiver Canaan Severin made a spectacular, one-handed grab in the end zone for a 26-yard
touchdown in the second quarter that put the Cavaliers up for good in their 35-29 victory over William & Mary
Sept. 19. He finished the contest with three catches for 53 yards, a week after hauling in a career-best 11 passes for
153 yards in UVa's heart-breaking 34-27 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame.
"Never," said Severin, when asked if he practiced hauling in passes with one hand. "Coach [Marques] Hagans, our
wide receivers coach, would be so mad if he ever even saw me or heard of us practicing one-handed catches. If we
attempt one in practice, just start running, because that's what you're going to do."
Severin had an ACC-best 23 receptions for 298 yards (13.0 yards per catch) and one score heading into October.
