40-Year Milestone Celebration The VAF 40-year Milestone Celebration was held the weekend of Septem- ber 18-19 in conjunction with the Virginia football game versus William and Mary. The celebration, which honored all VAF members who reached their 40th anni- versary for consecutive years of giving in 2014, included a dinner Friday night at Morven Farms, a commemorative gift for each honoree and on-field recognition at the football game on Saturday. To start the evening, honorees were treated to a performance by the Virginia Gentlemen. VAF executive director Dirk Katstra opened the program with a trip back through history that included special Virginia athletics' moments in the 70s when the group first became VAF members. Howard Taylor, one of the 40-year Mile- stone donors, offered the crowd his perspective on the importance of scholarships and UVa athletics' impact on him and his family. Craig Littlepage thanked the honorees for their loyal support for 40 years before introducing the evening's keynote speaker, head wrestling coach Steve Garland. Garland provided a powerful speech noting how longtime donor support is essential to building not only a suc- cessful program, but successful student- athletes. Thank you to all our loyal donors!
