ND SPORTS Lachowecki and senior midfielder Patrick Hodan both picked up sec- ond-team All-ACC honors during the regular season, and sophomore forward Jon Gallagher earned third- team accolades. Junior defender Brandon Aubrey, junior goalkeeper Chris Hubbard and senior mid- fielder Connor Klekota also all were named to the ACC All-Tournament team. So instead of riding high into the NCAA Tournament, the Irish will come out fighting on the heels of the Syracuse defeat, reflecting on the mistakes they made in the loss to the Orange and hopefully turning those into lessons learned. "It was a good game because Syra- cuse was a different type of team than we've played of late," Clark said. "They were a much more di- rect team, they're big and a little bit older. "It was a good lesson for us and I think we can learn a few things from the game, take it into the NCAA Tournament." Notre Dame opened the NCAA Tournament Nov. 22 against Tulsa. ✦ Irish Roundup CROSS COUNTRY The Notre Dame women competed in the NCAA Championships Nov. 21 at Louisville, Ky. The Irish men were represented individually by senior Michael Clevenger, who qualified after placing third overall at the Great Lakes Regional Nov. 13. WOMEN'S SOCCER (14-4-1, 6-4-0 ACC) The Irish, the No. 3 national seed, crushed Oakland 5‑0 in the opening round of the NCAA Champion‑ ship Nov. 13. They advanced to play UConn in the second round Nov. 20, hosted by No. 2 seed Rutgers in New Brunswick, N.J. HOCKEY (5-2-3, 3-0-1 HOCKEY EAST) No. 15 Notre Dame defeated Northeastern 3‑2 Nov. 12 and then tied the Huskies 2‑2 Nov. 13. The Irish next traveled to No. 5 UMass Lowell for a two‑game road series Nov. 21‑22. VOLLEYBALL (6-22, 1-15 ACC) The Irish dropped both matches in a Florida road swing, falling 3‑0 at No. 20 Florida State Nov. 13 and 3‑1 to Miami Nov. 15. Notre Dame next hosted Georgia Tech Nov. 20 and Clemson Nov. 22 in the final home matches of the season. SWIMMING & DIVING The Irish men and women both competed in the Boilermaker Invitational Nov. 20‑22 in West Lafayette, Ind. — Jordan Wells
