PREP PROFILES Stuart Head wasn't going to turn down a chance to visit Notre Dame, so when the Irish invited the Woodstock (Ga.) Etowah three-star safety to at- tend the Wake Forest game Nov. 14, there were no questions asked. He was going. The junior made the trek to South Bend with his father for Notre Dame's final home game of the season. He had a chance to meet defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, take a photo with NBA legend David Robinson and see WWE star Sheamus cheer on the Irish. It was a trip that he said was like no other. "It was special," Head said. "All the people that were there — it's just like everyone loves Notre Dame." Head, who is ranked by Rivals as the No. 38 recruit in Georgia for the class of 2017, doesn't hold an offer from the Irish — but he's a prospect that the staff is evaluating, and that's one of the reasons why Notre Dame tried to get him on campus. "They wanted me up here, and it was good to touch base with them," Head said. "It was fun being able to meet Coach [and recruiting coordina- tor Mike] Elston and Coach [Brian] VanGorder." Stanford, Clemson, Duke, North- western, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and California have all offered Head. Schools, though, see him at different positions, which is also the case with Notre Dame. The 6-4, 190-pound Head has pri- marily been a safety at Etowah High, but he has the frame to one day grow into a linebacker, and that has the Irish interested. "The coaches said that they really like the way that I play on film," Head said. "They said they see me as maybe in a hybrid type position. ... But just the way that I develop will probably play out to where they recruit me." While Head said that he doesn't have any leaders at the moment, it ap- pears the Irish would make his short list of schools if a bid came his way. The Georgia native has taken trips to Duke, Clemson and Virginia Tech this season. He plans to visit Stan- ford when the Irish travel to Palo Alto Nov. 28. — Andrew Ivins Peach State Safety Gets First Look At Irish STUART HEAD ✪ ✪ ✪ Etowah High School Woodstock, Ga.
