MEN'S BASKETBALL about when I'm getting in the lane just to go up with it, let the guys get it off the glass and to attack as much as I can. "Driving opens up my shot on the perimeter even more, because if I'm driving and I can shoot the three from outside it makes defenders have to ad- just to both." Beachem's renewed confidence and newly diversified offensive game was on display during Notre Dame's 3-0 start this season. He ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 10.7 points per game and found his shot again, making a team-best seven threes while shooting at a 43.8-percent clip from three-point land. He also showed a new focus on hitting the glass, ranking second on the team with 6.0 rebounds per contest, including a career high eight boards in Notre Dame's 86-78 win over Milwau- kee Nov. 17. "I feel I'm already there as far as con- fidence," Beachem said. "I know I have the ability to step up and take any shot and make any play. I'm not just wor- ried about shooting jump shots now. "Over the course of this summer and practice, somewhere in between was when I really started feeling that con- fidence back. "Rebounding is something we talked about all summer, too, and I think I've made some strides there. I'm learning still how to box out. Sometimes I don't see them and trust my athleticism too much. I'm working on getting to the weak side and using my body more." Head coach Mike Brey also thinks Beachem is finding his groove again, even following a 3-of-9 (33.3 percent) shooting performance in an 83-57 win
