MICHIGAN RECRUITING tackle for loss. Bredeson anchored the right side for a Highlight of- fensive front that led the way to 60 rushing yards while allowing only a single sack. Playing behind a porous line for the opposition, Walker rushed seven times for 18 yards and caught two passes for minus-four yards. The star of the game was Gary, though. The nation's No. 1 overall prospect lived up to his ranking, notching a game-high six tackles, including three solo sacks and another as- sisted tackle for loss. He was named the overall MVP of High- light's 27-0 victory. On the West Coast, wide receiver Brad Hawkins Jr. carried the ball twice for nine yards and was targeted on one pass in the East's 28-13 victory in the Semper Fi game. Fellow future Wolverine (and high school team- mate from Camden, N.J.) Ron John- son played along the defensive front for East, but did not accrue any sta- tistics. U-M target Khaleke Hudson played safety for the East team. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl was of the most interest to Michigan fans, however. Commits Brandon Pe- ters, Michael Onwenu and Jordan Elliott suited up for the West team at quarterback, offensive guard and defensive tackle, respectively, with Onwenu earning the start. He helped key a West rush offense that gained 98 yards on 19 carries (5.2 yards per rush) and didn't give up a sack in a 37-9 victory over the East. It wasn't so rosy for the other two pledges, with El- liott failing to register a statistic and Peters completing just 4 of 16 passes for 74 yards with no scores. Michigan added a commitment during the game, and it turned out to be one who perhaps had the best outing of all the Wolverines. Ran- cho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic wide receiver Dylan Crawford caught three passes for 40 yards in the contest. Another player who could become a Wol- verine, Crawford's close friend David Long from Los Angeles Loyola, was yet another solid performer for the West. The cor- nerback made one tackle, intercepted a pass and returned it 27 yards, and was part of a secondary that held the East quarterbacks to a dismal 59.17 pass ef- ficiency rating. ❏ On The Web For regular reports on Michigan football re- cruiting plus videos of U-M commitments and targets visit TheWolverine.com.
