F or the second consecutive season, Michigan has lost an underclass- man to the NFL — junior defensive end Willie Henry announced Jan. 13 he was declaring for the draft. A year ago, tight end/wide re- ceiver Devin Funchess went pro before his senior season, eventually hearing his name called by the Caro- lina Panthers in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The 6-3, 311-pound Henry started 10 of 13 games this past season for the Wolverines, tying for the team lead in sacks with 6.5 and ranking second in tackles for loss with 10 among his 34 total stops. In his three-year career with the Wolverines, he appeared in 36 games, starting 23, recording 10 sacks and 18.5 stops behind the line of scrim- mage among his 86 total tackles. With his size, strength and versatil- ity — he could play inside or outside, in a 3-4 or a 4-3 — Henry could be a second- or third-round pick in April, according to CBSSports.com NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler. "He's a top-100 guy," Brugler told TheWolverine.com. "I need to study more of him, but I'm really encour- aged by what I've seen so far." Henry's announcement came just two days after cornerback Terry Richardson and tailback Ross Tay- lor-Douglas opted for the graduate transfer opportunity, declaring their intention to play their final seasons elsewhere. The 5-9, 174-pound Richardson played in only 15 games during his four-year career, appearing in seven games as a reserve cornerback. He did not record an official tackle.
