PREP PROFILES South Carolina Defensive End Could Be A Fit At U-M U-M hasn't recruited South Caro- lina much in the past, but it has ex- tended a scholarship offer to Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern three-star junior defensive end Logan Ru- dolph. The 6-4, 230-pounder was so excited about the offer that he might've broken some of his high school's rules to find out about it. "Jay Harbaugh D M ' d m e h i s number and told me to call him. I was in class actu- ally, and I asked to go to the bath- room. I went in there and called him," Rudolph said with a laugh. "I talked to him for a little bit, and he asked how my week had been on a scale of one to 10 and I told him about a six or a seven. "Then he asked how I'd feel if the University of Michigan offered me a scholarship today, and I said that my week would go up to a 100. Then he said that's what was happening. I'm very thankful and feel very blessed to have that offer." Rivals.com originally listed Ru- dolph as a tight end — which is where Michigan offered him — but switched him to strongside defen- sive end and ranked him No. 16 in the country at that position because of his versatility and physical devel- opment. He played both positions as a junior and earned scholarships on both sides of the ball. His older brother, Mason, is the starting quarterback at Oklahoma State, which does give the Cowboys a connection, but definitely doesn't make him a lock to end up in Still- water. The Wolverines are in the mix due in large part to the presence of head coach Jim Harbaugh. "Having Coach H a r b a u g h a t Michigan is ab- solutely a draw for me," he said. "They obviously have a winning tradition and have been a power- house football team throughout his- tory. They have amazing facilities and a massive stadium." Rudolph also boasts offers from, among others, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Tennessee and USC. He visited Michigan for the Michi- gan State game and, while the Spar- tans stole victory away from the Wolverines, Rudolph enjoyed his time at the game and on campus. A return trip is likely and, if it materi- alizes, the Maize and Blue will stay on Rudolph's radar. — Brandon Brown ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Northwestern High School Rock Hill, S.C.
