OLYMPIC SPORTS UPDATE Jan. 16 in Atlanta. The Denmark native and seven- time NCAA All-American finished 15th in the 200-meter freestyle (1:50.24) and 16th in the 400-meter freestyle (3:59.44) at the AT&T Winter Nationals Dec. 3-5 at Federal Way, Wash. Meanwhile, junior Chris Klein has been a benchmark for the team in the breaststroke. Swimming in three individual short-course races at the Orange Bowl Swim Classic, Klein won the 200-meter individual med- ley (2:05.48), and finished second in both the 50- (28.53) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:02.25) events. He was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Jan. 6 for his performance. "Those guys are leading this team," said Bottom, referring to Bosch, Nielsen and Klein. "I think you want to watch them because they're very motivated towards reaching their potential." It will take the entire team collec- tively, though, in order for the team to reach its goals. "We win national championships and we win conference champion- ships with the team," Bottom said. "I think you can watch all of our guys get better and they will." Since winning the national title in 2013, Michigan has placed fourth and third the past two seasons. "If we can get 13, 14 guys quali- fied [for NCAAs] on their own ef- forts, then we have a shot to get into the top four again this year," Bottom Senior Dylan Bosch won titles in the 100‑ (48.04 seconds) and 200‑yard butterfly (1:44.91) Jan. 16 in Atlanta, when the Wolverines ran their dual‑meet unbeaten streak to 48 by top‑ ping No. 11 Indiana, No. 22 Duke and Georgia Tech.
