JULY 2016 ■ 139 ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING 18. JORDON RILEY, DT Durham Riverside High Few prospects pass the eyeball test bet‑ ter than Riley, a chiseled 6‑6, 295‑pounder. He has the type of frame that college coaches sali‑ vate over. He is also athletic enough to play basketball, and he averaged 7.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game this past year. He remains tremendously raw on the grid‑ iron — he only started taking up the sport as a sophomore in high school and needs to continue to develop. As a junior, Riley had 28 tackles, 6.5 stops for loss and 2.5 sacks. Rivals.com rates him as a four‑star player and the No. 14 defen‑ sive tackle in the country. 19. DARIUS HODGE, LB Wake Forest High Hodge stands 6‑1 and around 250 pounds, yet he moves well enough to potentially stick at line‑ backer. Hodge was timed around 4.7 seconds in the 40‑yard dash at NC State's summer camp in June. He pulled off a 4.36‑second shuttle time at the Nike Open‑ ing in Charlotte, where he also registered a 34.5‑inch vertical jump. At a Shrine Bowl combine, Hodge had a 9‑0 standing broad jump and did 29 reps at 185 pounds on the bench press. Hodge had 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss and eight sacks last season for Wake Forest. He verbally committed to NC State in June. Rivals.com rates him as a three‑star prospect. 20. GERMANE CROWELL, DB Winston-Salem Carver High Crowell has good genes. His father, Ger‑ mane Crowell Sr., was a for‑ mer standout wide receiver at Virginia who enjoyed good success in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, including a 1,000‑yard receiving season. Like his father, Crowell will play college football at Virginia. He is a good‑sized corner prospect at 6‑1, 180 pounds and shows natural playmaking abili‑ ties on both sides of the ball in high school, playing quarterback on offense. He's an aver‑ age athlete with decent speed, but needs to improve his lateral quickness. Rivals.com rates Crowell as a three‑star talent and the No. 42 athlete nationally. ■ GREGORY D.
