JULY 2016 ■ 149 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING toughness and the way I played," Davison said. "He thought I'd fit in well at NC State. "I'm a really big college basketball fan. I watched a few of their games. They trust their players and have that trusting relationship between player and coach." The ACC also has appeal even though Da- vison is in Big Ten country. "It's a great conference, and I've grown up watching the ACC," Davison said. "Being a big fan of college basketball, those are some of the best teams, best coaches and best play- ers in the country." Davison plays point guard for Maple Grove, and he got the chance to compete against Jones and star senior shooting guard Gary Trent Jr. of Apple Valley (Minn.) High, who is also a Howard Pulley teammate. "I'm a combo guard that plays the one with my high school team and the two with Howard Pulley," said Davison, who averaged around 22 points per game for Maple Grove. "I've been working really hard on my three- point shot to be more consistent and more of a threat out there. It has really paid off. I try to be a leader on and off the court for my team- mates. I just want to win." NC State, Buffalo, Butler, Davidson, Day- ton, Elon, Furman, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Lehigh, Michigan, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Northwestern, Pacific, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Stanford, Utah State, Winthrop, Wisconsin and Yale have all offered. The Rivals.com three-star prospect, who is ranked No. 119 overall in the class of 2017, has seen several colleges. He has unofficially visited Wisconsin three times, plus went to Michigan, Northwestern, Butler, Stanford, Dayton and Nebraska. He also has checked out Northern Iowa several times because his older sisters play basketball there. Angie Da- vison is a senior guard, and Stephanie Davi- son just graduated. "The biggest thing for me is to develop a relationship with the coaches," Davison said. "You have to have that two-way trust factor." ■ Wake Stone Corporation Five convenient locations to serve you with crushed stone: triangle Quarry Moncure Quarry I-40 at Harrison Ave. US 1 at Deep River 919-677-0050 919-755-7349 knightdale Quarry Hwy. 64 East 919-266-9266 nash Co.
