INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Favorite TV show: "'Amer- ican Dad.' That's usually what I watch." Favorite movie: " The original 'Rush Hour.'" Dream vacation: "Basi- cally any week when I'm not running is a dream vacation. Nothing crazy, any time to relax is perfect for me." Favorite track venue he's been to: " The New York Armory in New York City. I love the atmosphere of the place, it's a great place to have meets at." Favorite professional athlete: "I actually don't have one because I don't follow sports that much in general. I don't really fan over anyone. I just appreci- ate what they do." Role model: "My dad. I just like the way he conducts himself, especially in a professional setting. He ran track in college, too." Why he chose track: "My entire family ran track. My dad ran in college at Man- hattan, my mom in high school, and my sister and I do now. It's just what my family does." What he hopes to do after track at Michigan: "Originally, I was planning on getting out of the sport after school. If it works out, hopefully I can do it until I can't anymore. I hope to be at a place where I can train and I can use my degree. I don't want to give up on either of those." On the possibility of qualifying for the Olympics: "I'm at the Trials right now for Rio. I think I have a real shot in 2020. This year is kind of for the experience and to prepare me for next time when I can hopefully make the team." His overall U-M experience: "Overall, it's been great so far. Tough in the begin- ning, just having to make the initial transition as a freshman, especially when you play a sport. The training is much different, so your body just feels different. "Academically, it was tough at first because obviously it's a great university. But it's a great place in Ann Arbor — there's always people around to help you." — Brandon Brown McLaughlin captured All-America accolades in the indoor distance medley relay and the outdoor 400- meter hurdles during his rookie season.
